The Sad Puppies and Rabid Puppies vs the Hugos first brought light to what was happening with Trad Publishing. The biggest takeaway I got: Oh so that's why most of those scifi and fantasy books got boring and filled with unlikable characters who I couldn't even give two shits about even if I tried.
I WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THE SUPERVERSIVE THAT PRIORITIZES HOPE AND VIRTUE, EVEN IN SPITE OF THE HIGH SCHOOL SETUP OF TRAD PUBLISHING. GUESS WHAT BAEN: EVEN MY FAVORITES ARE GOING ON THE 2ND HAND LIST FOR NOW. STAND UP FOR YOUR PRINCIPLES. STOP CAVING IN DAMMIT.
I know that its stupid to concede ground. Stop chasing the ashes of Woke Trad Pub, it won't end well for you Baen. (THIS is a plea, not a threat!) I wonder if some can even remember that you can work together even if you disagree. We aren't in lockstep with each other with all political stances, esp not within my social media circles but we all want something very simple: FUN ESCAPIST ENTERTAINMENT.
And Misha brings up a good point as well.

PS: Learn to make fun of yourself. All this stuff tells me that even when you hit your 50s or more, many still have that HS mentality kick of Jocks, Geeks and Outsiders vs one another. Groups with common principles can work together even if they don't agree on everything. Its why I get indies from all across the board. From writers like M.D Cooper, to Yakov Merkin, To Jon Del Arroz, To Richard Paolinell, Richard Fox, Chuck Dixon, Micheal Baron, Vox Day and Beyond.
Are they all in lockstep with each other? No. But they share a common element: They want to tell Fun and Entertaining Stories. Not Message Fiction.
