Cosmic Horror AKA IN SPAAAAAAAACE!

Lit RPG

I want a decent enough story. The mechanics aren't the overall pull for me. Its how the writer mixes and matches elements together. Preferably scifi trappings. But a few fantasy based selections made it.

  • Eternal Journey: Here /// Godkiller: Here
  • The System Multiverse: Here
  • The Last Enclave: Here
  • Nova Online: Here

Different from LITRPG, usually involves physical/spiritual growth of main protagonist.

Superheroes

This can take the form of Street level or Cosmic Level. I do prefer superheroes that go beyond Earth. But I can be persuaded to see things on the basic crime fighter level too.

Romance/Social Relationships are Primary
  • Alien//Katt Series: Here *Yes, its romance primary. Doesn't hide it either. Like so many within this setup. There's no ending yet so I don't know if it will end up sharing a spot with Stardoc or Symphony in the "Last Book Faceplants It" Category.
  • Stardoc (Don't read the Last Book, ruins the series): Here
  • Symphony of the Ages (Dont Read the Last Book, ruins the series.): Here
I still think its better to fade to black even with the romance included in the above series. The only time I haven't seen a intimate setup make me cringe is Terminator 1 and Somewhere in Time

In fact? That's why I wanted to build backwards with Uplift Protocol. With the main characters knowing how they ride off into the sunset. I get that some enjoy bittersweet endings. I don't. I want the hero or heroine to get a good send off.

Yes, I want my fairytale golden endings.

Audiobook Indies

TTRPGS!

(Not Infected by Soapbox!)

The BROSR

The OSR

Indie Systems!

"Teh Gays!"

A handful of books/manga/ect that made same sex relationships a part of a character but not the sole defining feature. IE: What they want to try to do but fail at because post modern only knows how to do bill boards of "This is my Identity Interjected into a Character, thus cardboard in realty. But eat the table scraps bigots!"

Me? I'll read what I want. I want to find examples of non-traditional relationships where the characters aren't miserable POS. These characters aren't thin veneers of Regressive Left ID Politics.

  • Nightrunner
  • Night Terror
  • Trekker after OG Collective Omnibus 1 (Chapters 1-12): Here
  • Bloom Into You :Here
  • Babylon 5
  • Xena
  • Black Ocean/Mercy for Hire: Here (Yes, he got flack for being a strait guy writing lesbians but I've noticed that most of the LIKABLE alternative setups have been written by men. Funny how that works.PS: I liked Esper in the Main Black Ocean setup so....).
One review for this series said the "intimate" setup gets too in depth? But it looks like this guy wants to tell a story rather than, "This is me pronouns!" adventure.

No idea if this gets preachy later but so far from the first book? She prioritizes story over soapbox.
