I reviewed The Stars Asunder a few days ago:
Cause I love those books, here's the link!
Then I log in to try to edit the original and its blank!
So now here's the new review.
Let's see what the amazon gatekeepers do now.
Edit:
An update, they took the 2nd review attempt but I still think its rather suspicious that they delayed then deleted the first review. Because those are esp important in the first 2-5 days off launching at book.

Is Slice of Life Mundane really that popular?
Or do some want us to believe this? That 1000s upon 1000s enjoy talking heads around a table.
There is a significant review drop off. Like ballot stuffing was this a flash in a pan or something that is getting its publisher actual money.
The 4th book for this boring adventure feels like its that scene from Spaceballs but not fun or amusing and padded out over a whole book.
Ill look into this later but I don't see much difference between TOR, Macmillian, Harpercollins, Peguin, Simon and Schulster. IE: Overall Content. They all blend into a Mundane Manifesto bore fest.
DAW still gives me some interesting stories.
What caused me to think on this?
Declan Finn's Post
Sheer numbers drive that amazon bot. TO find books, to promote them, to have them rise to the surface.
I've left reviews of books I am only part way through:
That book 1 is over 1000 pages btw. :P
So while trad publishing might hate amazon's platform, it needs it too, along with up and coming indies. When leaving reviews Ill be pretty up front about biases, preferences, did I abandon the book part way through. Even DNF reviews have merit. What one person hates with the fury of 1000 suns might be what another is looking for.
Maybe that means Boring Planet series caters to the lonely? Because it looks like it really struck a cord with certain sectors.
2016 really was a year of awakenings for me.
Plus I'm not even reading the Expanse anymore. It got too "current year" human vs human dystopia issues for me.
Back in 2014 or so, I started reading whatever same sex couple stuff I could find. Mostly to show the internet fervor at the time a right wing person like myself could read stuff no matter the content. I realized that most with same sex characters went the misery route. What about the Campy Xena route? Something that could bring a smile. It happened with indies in most cases.
That series is Megamind with a same sex couple. But what if Megamind was dating a Supergirl standin instead. This thing is corny as hell. Which suits me just fine. Stop hitting people over the head with misery fiction. I imagine, if they really dug deep down, they don't want misery or mundane fiction either. But like that Babyon Bee Inforgraphic, they have to fight against "old school" fun/absurdity.

Back From the Retail Wars!
I have like 12 different things in draft mode as I work through stuff.
Currently typing:
- More in depth review of Uriel's Revenge, One Last Echo, Seekers of Fortune
- What books I think incorporate battlefield narratives really well ala Galaxy's Edge or even say...Black Company
- Building up the Steampunk, high fantasy/low fantasy, cyberpunk genre databases. While still adding to the others.
- Getting some entries done on past favorite series, semi retrospectives.
- More Creator Spotlights up and coming.
- More entries on Space Opera comics that look interesting.
- Getting an Invincible Comic commentary up and running. A kinda of Semi-read and reaction setup.
- Finishing up Rising of the Shield Hero. Part Two will have more active commentary from me.
- 12 Kingdoms Retrospective, the Light novels and anime. (Yoko went from zero to hero for dang sure. From someone that was near on unlikable to a formidable ruler. With lots of friends along the way. That's how you don't Mary Sue.)

Helping with the Cake
Alright then. So what is a reader to do to help a series they enjoy. What are some writers doing to help or hinder the industry. Let's go a-questing.
(ALL this is one reader's opinions and observations)
One, I don't use goodreads anymore, even with its endless recommendations and lists. Look at my profile, last time I used it was the end of 2017:
My Goodreads Profile
I felt like I had to hide certain things, some political povs when I was on that site. Plus it felt like books I loved never got to see the spotlight much. Within goodreads that is. Still reading the Wild Magic series to my niece because it has all the well written talking animals but unlike 11yr old me, I can see the more blatant overarching author inserting ideas nowadays. So for simplicity's sake I usually skip those so my brother's kid doesn't have to worry about that stuff for now. She's 3. Plus the usual mainstays I had while little: The Boxcart Children. The originals that is. When my nephews are old enough, they are gonna get all sorts of Appendix N stuff. And if my niece shows the same interest, more books to pass around :D
Plus I noticed Goodreads staff pretty much only paid attention to Trad Publishing. With one lucky indie or two that might pop up. If you want to compete with the indie market, start giving us even more buffets. Some old mainstays are still golden, like: Baen and even Sun Eater, along with Alien. Thing is, Baen and others have learned to embrace the changing tides. It's not something to be feared. Just something that should be considered and maybe more trad sources will find audiences that will sustain anyone below Big Fish level akin to King, Sanderson, Rowling types ect. There's an audience for everyone but we can't forget that midlisters and even niche listers are vital to a growing book reading generation.
It doesn't help that a decent chunk of the aspiring writing crowd wants to be the next big movie hit. I think some forget how the greats....are enduring. The very tropes that the Rian Johnsons and others want to subvert are the very reason why stuff like LoTR still sell like hotcakes even today. Stop writing for a mythical hollow-wood deal that will most likely not come to pass. (Imho). Some readers, like myself, actively seek the things they love, or learn to. But not all are as self motivated. I enjoy unearthing new series or books because it gives me a wonderful feeling to bring a book to the light and show everyone how much fun it is.
In fact, even reddit book groups don't really help me too much. Interestingly enough, the most effective thing I've see is on Amazon's "Readers also Liked" these writers sidebar.
Or blogs. Dear god, I have found so much interesting stuff via blog. So glad I was convinced to start one. Might be looking into Discord Book Groups at some point. See if there's something in that arena.
But as far as reddit goes, stuff gets buried, along with Goodreads. So many books are listed but for a reader like myself, with so much there, what do I focus on? Since the big things that get most of the screen time on those sites don't interest me much.
Maybe readers should start making more reading clubs. Filled with like minded genre enthusiasts. To help us network with more things we like. Its an idea. Maybe blogs can assist with that endeavor. For now its back to more writing and getting my superhero reviewing on.
You best believe I'm not gotta forget Mr. C.J. Hehehehe!
More upcoming delicious anthologies:
Planetary Anthology 1
Planetary Anthology 2
Ill get to some more indie blowouts once I get this superhero splash blowout done. Its nearly there. I just love to babble my 2 cents ever so often. Weeee!
